Congratulations to Colorado Scholarship winner Cody Bair!!!!!

Our own Cody Bair of Greeley Colorado was selected from over 500 applicants to receive a 2012 National Federation of the Blind National Scholarship.  One of only 30 winners, Cody had the opportunity to attend the National Federation of the Blind National Convention in Dallas Texas where he was mentored by leaders in the organization.

Through the speeches Cody made, his camaraderie with his scholarship class, and the relationships he developed with members of the scholarship committee, Cody represented Colorado in a superb manner.  We of the National Federation of the Blind of Colorado could not have been more proud of Cody, OUR scholarship winner!!!

On Thursday night at the convention Banquet, Cody was awarded a $3,000.00 scholarship along with $2,500.00 in additional awards and prizes from Kurzweil Educational Systems.  These awards included a check for $1,000.00, a copy of Kurzweil 1000 scan and read software, and an ipod touch that can be used to access BLIO software which provides people who are blind access to thousands of books at the same time and for the same price as their sighted peers.

We are excited to be able to call Cody our own and cannot wait to watch his growth and development in Federation leadership!  Please join me in extending your congratulations to Cody Bair!!!  Leave a comment or e-mail me at jbeecham@cocenter.org to extend a personal congratulations to Cody that will be posted to this blog post.
